Financial Aid Opportunities

At our center, we believe in making education accessible to everyone. We offer financial aid for full-time Adult Education students, which can help with a variety of educational expenses including tuition, books, tools, supplies, and more.

For those enrolled part-time, grants are available that are tailored to short-term certificate programs. Additionally, we provide our Aspire programs completely free of charge.

Please be aware that each financial aid option has specific eligibility criteria. When applying for financial aid, you will need to submit necessary tax and income documentation.

Payment Plans

Short-Term Program Financial Policies: Tuition, Fees, and Refunds

Payment of Tuition and Fees: Full payment is required at the start of the program.
Refund Policy: Tuition and fees are fully refundable if a cancellation is made within the first three days of classes. No refunds will be issued after the third full day of class.
Class Cancellations or Delays: Should a class be delayed or canceled, Tri-County Career Center – Adult Center will issue a full refund of all fees paid.
Third-Party Funding: Any funds provided by third-party sponsors will be directly applied to the student's charges. If these funds are reduced or denied, the student is responsible for paying the outstanding balance.

Ohio Work Ready Grant - Ohio Work Ready Grant is to provide funding to Ohio residents with the highest level of financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation - Scholarships for children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen pursuing post-secondary education at an accredited school. The scholarship is need-based and will be awarded to every eligible applicant.

Second Chance Grant - The objectives of the Second Chance Grant Pilot Program are to reduce financial barriers preventing Ohioans with some college credit but no degree from returning to higher education and to increase the number of Ohioans with a degree or credential.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is your essential first step in securing financial support for your education. This form is utilized by the federal government to assess your financial contribution capability and determine the amount of aid you are eligible to receive. Filling out the FAFSA is crucial for anyone seeking financial assistance for their educational expenses.

How do you apply for Federal Student Aid?

1. Create your FSA ID

If you are going to file a FAFSA, you must first have a FSA ID. Click here for the FSA website where you may create one.
If you are considered a dependent student, your parent or guardian will also need to create an FSA ID to sign your FAFSA.
Please remember to use an email address you have access to, as you will be emailed a code to complete the registration of your FSA ID. If a parent is also creating an FSA ID for their dependent student, they must have a separate email address from the student.

2. File Your FAFSA

Click here to be taken to the FAFSA website. When asked to log in, choose to use your FSA ID (if you are a dependent student, remember to log in as the student, your parent/guardian will only use their FSA ID at the very end to sign the completed FAFSA).

- By completing your FAFSA, we can determine your financial need. This will allow the financial aid office to create an award package for your individual educational need.
If you are given the option of transferring your income tax information (and your parent’s if you are a dependent student) from the IRS website, do so. Use the EXACT address on your 1040 form. This will save time on both the student’s and school’s part if your application is flagged for verification.

Understanding Pell Grants:

Unlocking Opportunities for Higher Education

Pell Grants are a form of federal financial aid provided by the United States government to help undergraduate students who have not yet earned a bachelor's or a professional degree afford college. They are designed to be a foundational source of funding that students do not need to repay, making them particularly valuable for those who have financial need.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for a Pell Grant, students must:

Demonstrate financial need.
Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a regular student in an eligible degree or certificate program.
Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
Have a valid Social Security number.
Maintain satisfactory academic progress in college or career school.
Certify that they are not in default on a federal student loan and do not owe money on a federal student grant.

How to Apply

Applying for a Pell Grant is straightforward. Students need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. This application will determine their eligibility for all forms of federal financial aid, including Pell Grants.

Grant Amounts

The amount awarded depends on:

The student's financial need.
The cost of attendance at their chosen institution.
The student’s status as a full-time or part-time student.
The student’s plans to attend school for a full academic year or less.
